The Armed Forces Day is Coming to Llandudno

Armed Forces Day is a somewhat new event to some peoples’ social calendars, but the event itself is considered a great day out, and a lot of fun besides. 2018’s Armed Forces Day is set to take place in the very lovely seaside town of Llandudno, North Wales, and we’re certain that very many hotels in Llandudno are preparing for an even busier weekend than usual due to this.

Rooms are looking scarce for the weekend of Saturday the 30th of June, and we’re certain that they’re going to fill up pretty fast due to the excellent weekend that Armed Forces Day will bring to this seaside town come rain or shine.

You might wonder why Armed Forces Day is so very popular. Not to be confused with Remembrance Sunday, Armed Forces Day is a celebration of the British Army, the RAF and also the Navy, and exists as a means of showing support for the men and women who make up the community – be them (as mentioned) Army, Navy, RAF, but also the service families, reservists, veterans and cadets which indeed deserve to be celebrated just as much as those in active service.

Armed Forces Day is intended to bolster morale, and we can’t think of any better way than with a huge party, which is exactly what is coming to Llandudno as a result of Armed Forces Day.

Armed Forces Day hosts a plethora of things to do for those curious and those just looking for a fun weekend. The calendar of entertainment is different every year, though there have been a multitude of fun things to enjoy at Armed Forces Days in the recent past, such as tugs of war (usually armed forces vs local police, lifeboat men and women, and even a few staunch-hearted members of the public such as football and rugby clubs!), as well as other spectacles such as face painting, helicopter rides, as well as the opportunity to meet service animals such as horses and dogs which form active service as well as their handlers.

We imagine that Shenkin, the freshly selected goat for the Royal Welsh which was selected from the Great Orme a few weeks ago will play a large part in this year’s Armed Forces Day. We imagine that it will be quite a homecoming for him! Of course, events involving pulling AS-90 tanks (and of course the more well known Challenger II) have been confirmed to take place in the historic Mostyn Street – so we’re sure that this weekend will have a host of things to do in Llandudno.

Make sure you book your hotel early, we’re sure that availability is strictly limited!
