Reasons to Visit Conwy County

From the most incredible landscapes, to the exciting restaurants Conwy county is somewhere the whole family can come visit and have a great time. The area has such a diverse range of activities for you to spend time doing, and is particularly fun for those who enjoy the outdoors.

This list goes through just a few of the many reasons why Conwy is a fantastic location to visit:

  • The Nature is Incredible

The nature surrounding the county of Conwy is beautiful. If you’re visiting one of its towns, you only have to look up to see some peaks of mountains in the near distance. Wherever you are you won’t be far from the hills

The same can be said for the coast, you’re never far away! You’ll be spoilt for choice in terms of beaches and harbours. Down the Conwy Valley is the ‘gateway to Snowdonia’ Betws y Coed too, where there are endless lakes and mountain walks.

  • The Language

The Welsh language is estimated to be around 4,000 years old, and is still spoken by some of the locals in Conwy county.

Being in the bilingual country, the Welsh language is displayed on the road signs, around the town, and often on the media. Coming here can be a chance to learn a few words or sentences from the Celtic language.

  • The Choice of Adventure

If you think of yourself as a bit of an adrenaline junkie, then Conwy is a great place for you. There is Zip World in Llanrwst where you can ride the forest coaster, the tree safari, and the skyride.

Further down the Conwy valley, is Surf Snowdonia, which was the first artificial wave lagoon in the UK. In Llandudno, there is a dry ski slope if snow sports are more your thing.

Around Conwy there is also the opportunity to have a go at climbing. The Boathouse climbing wall has belay and bouldering walls available.

  • Food and Drink Options.

The well kept land and sea in the area means that the food here is nothing short of divine. A lot of the restaurants in Conwy pride themselves on using local produce wherever possible in their food. Conwy town itself is known for the mussels that are found in the harbour.

Around Conwy there is also a number of distilleries and breweries producing some lovely drinks. Aber Falls Gin is now UK renowned, and Conwy Brewery is definitely one of the locals favorites.

  • The History

Conwy has a plentiful history to explore. The most popular (for a good reason) piece is Conwy Castle, built by King Edward I at the end of the 13th Century. This is located next to the suspension bridge built by Thomas Telford in 1826.

If you head over to the seaside resort of Llandudno you can see lots of parts of its Victorian past.
